MEET BOB MANOR

The Journey of the Can-Am Car Guy

Bob Manor's journey into the auto industry is a tale of serendipity, tenacity, and the relentless pursuit of autonomy. It all began on a dreary bus ride to the University of Windsor in 1990, where Bob, disenchanted with the drudgery of daily commutes and academic pursuits, stumbled upon a job ad that would pivot the course of his life. The ad, for a car sales position that included the use of a demo car, caught his eye just as the bus rolled past the very dealership advertising the role. In a moment of bold decision-making, Bob stepped off the bus, walked into the dealership, and secured the job on the spot.

The Man Behind the Expertise

Bob's foray into car sales was nothing short of remarkable. Within his first hour on the job, he sold a car, earning a commission that in 1990 felt like a fortune. This early success, fueled by a blend of naiveté and boundless optimism, convinced him to drop out of university and dive headfirst into the car business, undeterred by the daunting recession and sky-high interest rates that plagued the industry at the time.
Bob's relentless drive and a keen eye for opportunity quickly set him apart. He learned the art of prospecting from a supportive boss, using nothing but a phone book, a phone, and his eagerness to succeed. This foundational experience taught him the invaluable lesson that creating one's own opportunities is the ultimate key to freedom and success in any industry.
Over the next couple years, Bob's reputation as a prolific deal-maker grew. He transitioned to a larger dealership, where, in 1993, he initiated a landmark relationship with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, facilitating their first vehicle purchases in Canada. This move not only cemented his status in the auto sales world but also showcased his ability to forge significant partnerships that would yield thousands of transactions

His journey took another pivotal turn when he moved to a new flagship dealership, becoming part its rise to the number one volume store in the country. However, it was here that Bob encountered the stifling effects of corporate toxicity and the limitations on personal freedom it imposed. A confrontation over hidden profits derived from his efforts was the last straw, propelling him to leave and start his own business in January 2000, shifting his focus to pre-owned wholesale and export. This decision marked the beginning of an era of unparalleled freedom and success, laying the groundwork for what would become a distinguished career in the auto wholesale industry.

Bob Manor's early years in the car business are a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of seizing opportunities, and the transformative impact of pursuing autonomy. His journey from a young, ambitious salesman to a respected industry leader and creator of the B4 Method is a compelling narrative that underscores his expertise, vision, and dedication to personal and professional growth. From those initial steps into the world of auto sales, Bob ventured into the realm of entrepreneurship, where his true passion for the industry could flourish without constraint.

In the early 2000s, Bob's entrepreneurial spirit led him to found South Ontario Auto Remarketing (SOAR), a venture that would redefine the landscape of auto wholesale by specializing in cross-border transactions between Canada and the USA. This move not only highlighted Bob's knack for identifying and capitalizing on niche markets but also underscored his commitment to offering value-driven solutions to complex challenges faced by auto dealers and consigners.

As SOAR grew, Bob continued to innovate, expanding his offerings and refining his approach to business. His ability to adapt to the evolving market dynamics and leverage his extensive network set the stage for the creation of Can-Am Dealer Services. Recognizing the unmet need for a reliable warranty solution for cars imported/exported between Canada and the USA, Bob meticulously researched and developed a unique product that addressed this gap. Launched with an unwavering focus on integrity and customer service, Can-Am Warranty quickly became a cornerstone of his business portfolio, offering peace of mind to dealers and consumers alike.

Bob's entrepreneurial journey didn't stop there. His reputation as a strategic thinker and problem-solver caught the attention of major players in the automotive industry, leading to a contract with Tricor Automotive Group, the largest grouping of franchise dealers in Canada. Tasked with building and running their wholesale import/export divisions, Bob applied his accumulated knowledge and experience to create a blueprint for success that benefitted not only Tricor but the entire automotive ecosystem.

Today, Bob Manor stands as a symbol of perseverance, innovation, and unwavering commitment to excellence. His journey from a disillusioned university student to a trailblazer in the auto industry is a vivid illustration of how determination, coupled with a clear vision, can lead to remarkable achievements. Through the ups and downs, Bob has remained true to his core values, leading by example and inspiring others to pursue their own path to success. His legacy is not just in the deals he's made or the businesses he's built but in the lives he's touched and the industry he's transformed.

HOW I STARTED

Personal Growth and Development of the B4 Method

MY WORK

While I could have leveraged this wisdom to build a profitable venture, my true passion lies in sharing the B4 Method freely, hoping it evolves and aids others in their personal growth journey.

The B4 Method is dynamic, continuously evolving as I refine it throughout my lifetime. It stands on the shoulders of countless individuals who have sacrificed for our collective understanding of personal and professional success. This holistic approach aims to enrich lives across Body, Brain, Bond, and Bank – pillars I believe are fundamental to a fulfilling life and should be accessible to everyone, not just a privileged few.

I understand the feelings of being lost and alone, burdened with the weight of responsibilities, especially common among male entrepreneurs and managers. These individuals often share a common thread – they have dependents counting on them, a desire to provide, and limited support networks.

From the moving shadows of my childhood to the luminous heights of my professional achievements, my journey has been a tale of adaptation, resilience, and reinvention. Born into a Chrysler family in Windsor, Ontario, my youth was a series of relocations across Canada, making me the perpetual 'new kid' in town. This nomadic lifestyle, coupled with my introverted nature and towering presence, compelled me to learn the art of adaptability early on.
Basketball became my sanctuary during high school, a place where I could channel my energy and ambition. As a team captain and all-city player, I earned a university scholarship, only to stumble terribly and return home hat in hand , facing the daunting task of another reinvention. This setback led me to the auto industry in 1990, where I began a career that would become my playground.

Success, however, was interspersed with profound personal trials. The tragedy of my mother's suicide in 2007 and the blow of the 2008 recession, which led to personal bankruptcy, plunged me into a world of depression and alcohol abuse.Barely hanging on. Yet, the spirit of resilience, ingrained from my childhood, spurred another transformation in 2015. I emerged, sober and focused, shedding 100 pounds and reigniting my business acumen. The establishment of Can-Am Dealer Services in 2019 was a pivotal moment, born from identifying a unique market need. But even amidst this professional triumph, I felt a void – an emotional disconnect stemming from years of suppressed trauma and a crumbling marriage. I should have been elated and I felt nothing. To say I had become an apathetic zombie would be an understatement. It scared the hell out of me. This realization sparked a journey of intense self-discovery, leading to the creation of the B4 Method.
Drawing from personal experiences, insights from masterminds, personality tests, coaches, and groups, I developed the B4 Method. Initially a personal blueprint for navigating life, and staying on course, it has evolved into a comprehensive guide that I now share freely. Like Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, it serves as a source of wisdom and resilience for myself and hopefully others
