We all know “That Guy.” The one who lets the glory days define him. Maybe it’s the 50-year-old who can quote every stat from his high school football games but hasn’t played a down since senior year. Or the guy who sold a company 20 years ago and hasn’t done much since…yet still positions himself as an expert.
If you’re going to talk about it… you have to be about it.
I recently realized that I was in danger of becoming “That Guy.” while talking about wholesale. Although I’m at the helm of several wholesale-related companies, I spent a couple of years out of direct wholesale. The problem is….I evangelize direct dealing, personal branding, and network-building because that’s how I succeeded in the past. And I wasn’t about to sit on the sidelines, living off the stories of those past wins.

To Be About It
1. Got back into the game…direct wholesale deals, not auctions.
I’ve partnered with a major dealer group in Western Canada to help with acquisitions and build a wholesale network that sources 100+ cars per month…all from non-auction sources. This isn’t a theory…I’m already making real progress toward this…. In addition to running all my other businesses.
2. Opening “The VIN Syndicate.”
I created a private, 100% free community designed to help others do exactly what I did…build networks, create autonomy, and escape reliance on others.
This isn’t another LinkedIn group or social media forum. The VIN Syndicate is a secure, invite-only, app based community for GMs, UCMs, buyers, wholesalers, and fleet remarketers to connect, share insights, and grow their direct wholesale networks.
No Owners. No Vendors. No Auctions. No Prying Eyes….Just Peers.
